ComPbCorr is an Excel template which corrects U-Pb analyses of zircons or other minerals used in geochronology for common lead. The algoritm used does not require data for 204Pb, nor is ideal concordance assumed. The method is informally known as the "Discordance correction", because it uses the discorance pattern in U-Th-Pb isotope space to estimate the amout of common lead present.
The discordance correction method is designed for correction of quadrupole LAM-ICPMS data, or data from other methods which do not report 204Pb. If 204Pb has been measured, a traditional common-lead correction should be used.
